Re:staging Photography

I like many people enjoy taking photographs - and I am a practiced photographer. However, I do question the place of the photograph in contemporary society given the ubiquity of images currently in the world - so for some while now I have been trying out different ways of presenting or re:presenting - if not re:staging photographs. This exploration has lead me to creating environments made of layers of white gauze or muslin where a photograph is projected onto that gauze - plus with the excitation of  a fan blowing on the gauze then the photograph is further distressed when projected. Imagine a rectangular space - a box of 10 foot square and 10 foot high with gauzes hanging from ceiling to floor, receding in different depths throughout the space.

Here are a few examples of images photographed in Venice, projected and then re photographed to produce these images - these are sold as prints or available on screen via Sedition Art.
